What is a company story?
...it’s the life force of your company.

It’s not soft. It's not subjective. It's not just a nice-to-have.

When you have a clear company story – your employees will know what the company is trying to achieve, how they should work, what success looks like, what the priorities are, and on and on. In other words, they get it. And if you get it, you can work with focus, energy, enthusiasm, creativity, and autonomy.

The company story is the fuel and direction you supply to make every employee (as long as you did your hiring right) a superstar.

And by the way, it’s not just employees that want to tap into the life force of your company, it’s everyone else…

Your company started because of a belief that it could meet a need, create a product, provide a service, contribute to the world, and be successful. You want to be sure that everyone understands why you believe this and how you are going to make it happen.

Why have a company story?

to maximize your investment.

By the time you have hired an employee, you have already made a significant investment. You have searched, interviewed, evaluated, created a job description, responsibilities, designed an offer package, on boarded, integrated, trained, etc. This translates to time, time, time and money.

Therefore, you want to be sure that each and every employee spends all of their time and intellectual energy doing the right work, the right way, at the right time.

Your company story is the recipe for doing this.

How do you get your employees to live the company story?
That’s easy to say, but hard to do.

This is where the magic lives. This is how we will not only make your company story stick, but we will bring it to life.

Is your company built on innovation, collaboration, flawless execution, stunning design, mind-blowing speed? It doesn’t matter what the “IT” is. What matters is that your team is doing “IT”.

You want your team to think, work and behave in specific ways – ways that are consistent with, and in support of, your company story.

There are two ways to make this happen.

Way #1

Encourage your team to act in specific ways.

- You want them to be persistent? That’s easy, why not put posters around the office with a “Hang in there, kitty”?

- You want them to collaborate more? How about starting a contest rewarding them for using your collaboration software?

In other words, push, push, push.

Spoiler alert, this approach is far more common and far less effective than Way #2.

Way #2

Get the obstacles out of your team’s way – set them free to perform.

- You want them to be more persistent? Find out what’s stopping them and change it.

-  You want your team to be more collaborative? Find out why they aren’t and make it happen.

Figure out what’s keeping your team from naturally doing what they want to do, the way you want it done.

We will lead the way in identifying what’s preventing your team from living your company story. And then, we will help you annihilate it. There is no sense putting in the time and energy of creating a company story, if you’re not also going to create the environment that allows it to thrive.
